Here’s the part where we throw in some legal “schtuff” so that everyone plays nice. Mostly, it’s common sense. Give credit where credit is due. Take responsibility for your own stuff. Be respectful. And don’t think that I have a crystal ball or omnipotent knowledge about everything on the internet.
Endorsement Disclaimer – Links to Other Sites
Reference in this website to any specific commercial products, process, service, manufacturer, or company does not constitute its endorsement or recommendation by the E.J. Smith or Simply EJ. Simply EJ is not responsible for the content of any “off-site” web page referenced from this server.
(This is the “I don’t have a crystal ball” part).
Endorsement Disclaimer – Pop-Up Advertisements
When visiting our website, your web browser may produce pop-up advertisements. These advertisements were most likely produced by other websites you visited or by third party software installed on your computer. Simply EJ does not endorse or recommend products or services for which you may view a pop-up advertisement on your computer screen while visiting our site.
I find it super creepy that I can shop for shoes one day and then the next day all my banner ads the websites I view are specifically tailored to that search. I promise not to do that to you. It’s way too Big Brother for me.
Endorsement Disclaimer – Links to this site
Simply EJ allows other websites to post links to www.sassyadvocate.com, but claims no responsibility for the content and opinions expressed on those pages. Content from www.sassyadvocate.com may be used, but we respectfully request that Simply EJ/E.J. Smith or www.sassyadvocate.com is cited as the source.
By the way, if you ever see Simply EJ or The Sassy Advocate referenced on a sketchy site or you see my content without proper credit, I’d really appreciate if you’d let me know.
The Plain English Translation
Okay, so here’s the deal…
Right now, I’m a one-woman show. If that changes, I’ll be sure to let you know and clearly give credit to authors, guest contributors, etc… Sometimes we might not agree, and that’s okay. I believe healthy respectful discourse and discussion is important. If you have a question, please feel free to contact me at simplyejsmith at gmail dot com.
Although I do not do so at present, it is possible that in the future I may accept monetary or other types of compensation for advertising, paid insertions or sponsorship. If that happens, I will be sure to make it very clear.
Until we get to know each other better, you’re probably just going to have to take my word on this… Nevertheless, I’m also going to promise you that I’m not going to partner with companies, products or organizations unless I think they’re really awesome, our values are aligned, and they operate with the same level of integrity and respect for my readers as I do. Those things are much more important to me than any compensation.
Everyone comes with their own unique preferences, experiences and biases. I make a decent portion of my living over the fact that I have opinions — a lot of them — that I express regularly. I will often present both sides of an issue, but I don’t think this should be confused with neutrality. Obviously if I think something is awesome, I’m going to show preferential treatment towards it over something I think is not as awesome.
Even when compensated, I try very deliberately to own my opinions and take responsibility for them. Again, I’m only going to bring my readers products and services that I would recommend to my own family, friends or clients. And I will very blatantly let you know that I have been compensated for a given endorsement.
I don’t consider myself a salesperson in any way, shape or form. And for heaven’s sake, even though I try my best to do solid research on topics, products, services, or whatever else I present on the site/blog, I encourage you to not passively take my word for things. Please please please do your own homework. I am not a guru. You are the expert on you and your opinion is what ultimately matters.
